Selesitina & Rory's Wedding
APRIL 24, 2009
LOS VERDES COUNTRY CLUB, RANCHO PALOS VERDES

Selesitina or Tina as we all call her was my college roommate in Long Beach and also a good friend of mine. I was there when this whole courtship between these two long distance friends turned soul mates evolved. They met in Vegas, poolside of course, and have been inseparable since. Rory is from England, but was always a familiar face with his frequent visits to the states to see Tina. I knew he was the one for her right away! Persistence pays! Therefore, this wedding was dear and special to me. Along with Tina's vision, we wanted the flowers to stand out and make a statement. The color theme was dark purple with silver accent. She wanted bright vibrant colors. For her bouquet and the centerpieces, I mixed orange, green, pink and white roses with pink dahlias, green orchids, purple hydrangea and anemones. They were very colorful. The bridesmaids bouquets consisted of pink roses with pink anemones. The maid of honor, Winterlee, had purple anemones to make her stand out. The ceremony area was decorated with white flowers. I decorated the arch with a simple white arrangement and had stringed white orchids accent the sides of the arch. White ball pomanders were put on the end of every other chair. The back drop of the ocean was beautiful as the sun set during their ceremony....what a sight to see! As it became dark, the centerpieces seemed to glow when the candles were lit around them. With the accents of clear jewel crystals around and inside the vases, they seemed to also give a glisten look to the whole thing. It was great seeing old friends and familiar faces again. I am so happy to have been a part of their special day. I will definitely visit them in London when they get settled in...good luck Mr. & Mrs. McKee's. Thank you also to my cousin Christina for her help and dedication...she is a natural at this!

Katrina & Patrick Wedding...
APRIL 4, 2009
HYATT, Long Beach

Katrina & Patrick were friends of my cousin Laura. The wedding took place at a church in Long Beach, followed by the reception at the Hyatt. The view of the Long Beach Harbor was spectacular. The color scheme consisted of green, pink and white. These vibrant colors were evident throughout from the alter pieces to the centerpieces. The brides bouquet consisted of white roses and green cymbidiums. The Maid of honor's bouquet had hot pink roses with green cymbidium orchids intertwined, while the bridesmaids had green roses and green cymbidiums with pink accents. The cute flower girls carried green mum pomanders which turned out very well. The centerpieces were very simple. They consisted of three different sized cylinder vases with tulips, dahlias and orchids submerged inside with water. All three laid on top of ceramic plates filled with sand on the bottom and garnished with orchids. I am very grateful to have my cousin Christina's help that day. It was very tedious and time consuming, but we worked well together. Everything came together well and we were excited and relieved when it was all over.

Trisha and Ryan's Wedding
MARCH 21, 2009
AYERS HOTEL, Hawthorne

Trisha style is classic. Much of her vision is inspired from the past. She incorporated this through multiple aspects of her wedding from the centerpieces to her hair. The color scheme was champagne with black accents. To set it off, Trisha wanted to have red and fuchsia flowers. The bridesmaids bouquets were a mix of black magic and fuchsia roses, pink ranculas and some black ribbon in between. The flower girls had pomanders consisting of pink flowers such as gerber daisies, garden roses and ribbon. Trisha's bouquet had a more garden feel with white ranculas, lisanthus, vendela and garden roses. The centerpieces were Trisha's creative idea. She bought all the material and both my cousin and I assembled them together. I liked how the manzanita branches ranged from various sizes and shapes...it added dimension to the room. The simple black beading and dried hydrangea added a clean classic look to the whole centerpiece. I appreciated Trisha for giving me the creative freedom to make the name table piece. I used one of her branches, added pink and red flowers at the base and incorporated two pomanders in between. I wanted to try something different so I covered the pomanders with individual rose pedals secured with black boutonniere pins evenly around the ball. They turned out better than I had imagine. It was definitely a hard working event which also opened my creativity even more. This day would not have been possible without the help of my wonderful cousin Christina. I am thankful to have her in my life.

Amber & Joseph
JANUARY 3, 2009
DOUBLETREE HOTEL, City of Orange

Joseph is the cousin of my previous client, Holly. Their colors were pink and silver. Amber wanted her bouquet to stand out, so I incorporated fuschia roses, calla lilies and alstromeriums together. The bridesmaids were more of a softer pink with a combination of white and baby pink roses, pink alstromerium and gerber daisies. Centerpieces consisted of fuschia, baby pink and white gerber daisies, white spider mums, white snapdragons, pink stargazer lilies, roses and bells of Ireland in a tall rectangular glass vase. The silver color was incorporated through the ribbon on the bouquets and around the centerpieces. I also added a few flowers to the cake to brighten it up. Again this was a solo adventure and a little less stressful which surprised me (I think I'm finally getting the hang of things now)! But everything turned out well and accordingly. I would like to again thank my sister and Danny for offering their garage as my workplace.

Happy New Year's
JANUARY 1, 2009

New Year, New opportunities! I know it's been awhile. Many changes have happened to me in the last few months which will change my future. One of them is moving up north to Monterey Bay and pursuing my teaching career. It's a changing experience that has also been rewarding. I am still keeping my obligations to complete the weddings I am contracted to do for the remainder of this year but I am going to ease up a little after. I have also been without a camera (fell in the toilet...long story!), therefore also preventing me from posting new pictures. But my sister lend me her camera for these new blogs. I think 2009 will be a great year not only for me but for everyone. I wish everyone the best of luck...think positive and live life to it's fullest! I made these arrangements for a friend's New Years Eve Party...

Holly & Andrew
SEPTEMBER 27, 2008
YORBA LINDA COMMUNITY CENTER

Holly is a friend of Monique's. She loves gerber daisies so she wanted to incorporate different colored daisies with her black colored theme so that the flowers would stand out. All bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and centerpieces consisted of red, pink, yellow, orange and white gerber daisies. The centerpieces were a bit of a challenge. Holly wanted tall centerpieces so I found an example that had gerber daisies with their stems spread out inside a short cylinder vase. The challenge was making sure the gerber daisies stayed up tall without falling. But they all did and they turned out well. I would like to thank my cousin Aileen who let me store the flowers at her home in Irvine. I am very grateful to have her in my life.
